This is the Forum for Ythan CC, perhaps not the biggest cycling club in Scotland but size isn't everything

I'm with Bill's suggestion. I'd much rather see a bit of competition between our members and my feeling about the individual events is poles apart from Colin's - I swim like a brick despite having spent most of my working life as a diver, but quite enjoy running (I also remember my 5'2" ex passing 6'2" Colin at considerable speed in the Baker Hughes 10k one year and understand he wouldn't want to repeat the experience!). Regarding prizes, I'm not keen on the leopordskin g-string - I was given one for my 'Secret-Santa' in work a few years ago (seriously) and dont need another one cos the one I've got is still as good as new!

Only 6'1" and I was very, very ill that day. Crying or Very sad but it didn't kill me, so I must be stronger.

So basically we are going to award the triathlon trophy to those that don't like swimming. I must get my dictionary definition of triathlon out. Wink

I will bow to pressure and concede that the majority want a "confined duathlon" rather than a proper triathlon.

Colin, there have been very few people respond to this....And noticeably not a single triathlete so I don't think we can take a decision to change, there may be others like yourself who object and I respect that.

I will organise something for the quiet part of the year and perhaps we might get a good turnout, might even throw in a prize myself.

The trophy last year went to a duathlete as I recall, we didn't have any triathletes, or at least none who let me know they had competed one.

It is one for the next committee meeting but lets be positive and move with the times....We have had some successes over the last couple of years, sexy new kit, a ladies team to be proud of, a MTB race which actually goes off-road and a proportionately massive attendance at Open events when compared to some other local clubs...But that's another subject Very Happy

oh - been away for a day and just catching up. I am all for a confined duathalon to determine the shield. Cycle, Run, Cylce sound good but we would need to stagger the start. It would be mad if a dozen cyclist started off at the same time! Thong in every goody bag?? and we thought you only had one Bill!

Don't worry ladies, the fabled Beallach thong will be good for another year....Although having just spent over half a grand on a specialized MTB for the current Mrs D there is a real danger she might want to join us all in 2009 and then push on for the Confined trophy, stranger things have happened. Rolling Eyes Wink
